| Classes
of membership There are the following classes of membership: ASSOCIATES HONORARY ASSOCIATES FELLOWS HONORARY FELLOWS Associate membership Associate membership is by way of examination (click here for further details), except where the Institutes Council considers there are exceptional circumstances to permit membership by exemption. On passing the Institutes examinations a student may apply to be entered into membership as an Associate. They will be required to complete and submit an application form accompanied by a CV sponsored by two people acceptable to the Institute (a list of acceptable sponsors will be provided). Council reserves the right to refuse admission. Fellowship There is no minimum period before an Associate can apply for Fellowship. Council has discretion to waive the time requirements. It also has discretion to accept an application for direct entry into Fellowship. In all cases Fellowship is granted to those who submit an acceptable thesis, the subject for research having been agreed with the Institutes Council in advance. Affiliate If you are not eligible for or not accepted for membership of The Institute and do not wish to become a student of The Institute, it will be possible to apply to be affiliated to the Institute.
