Benefits of membership

The benefits of membership of The Institute will include the following:

Subject to any governmental consents and any restrictions laid down by the Council, members will be entitled to use the following designatory letters after their name:

  • Associates AIIT
  • Honorary Associates Hon AIIT
  • Fellows FIIT
  • Honorary Fellows Hon FIIT.

Members will be recognised as belonging to a disciplinary and self regulatory body which seeks to maintain the highest professional standards.

By maintaining the highest standard required of its members, membership will in itself be recognised as an indication of professionalism.

The Institute will attempt at all times to secure professional benefits for its members.

The Institute will organise conferences, seminars and other educational functions for the benefit of its members including branch activities.

Members have Licensed access to the Bar (click here for more details). If the appropriate circumstances apply, members are granted a licence to instruct barristers to act on appeals to the Upper Tribunal and above when they have acted for the client before the First-tier Tribunal.

The Institute will make representations on behalf of its members on matters of law and practice which concern them and encourages members to participate in such representation.
